McMinnville, pop. 36,000 is county seat of Yamhill County in the northwest Willamette Valley, with a vibrant local economy featuring wine- and tourism-based industry as well as light manufacturing and extensive agriculture. Immediate opening. 

Preferred applicants will have experience in covering the many layers of local government as well as business and agricultural topics. Photography, feature-writing skills and digital content knowledge are also desirable.

Part-Time Graphic Designer - Keizer

On behalf of our sister newspaper (Malheur Enterprise), Keizertimes is seeking a graphic designer to join the team in our Keizer office. This position will be responsible for creating ads which will appear in the weekly Malheur newspaper as well as various magazines. Other roles will include designing publication covers, feature layouts, charts, tables, and infographics in support
of news content. This person will also design and post web advertising and content for Facebook.

Your portfolio should demonstrate:

  • Typography (expressive and normative) • Color theory
• Composition
• Client focused creative problem solving • Attention to detail

Preferred qualities:

  • Technical / troubleshooting
• Print production skills
• Knowledge of 4-color printing process
• Strong organization
• Great written communication skills
• Excellent skills in InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator
• Experience using content management system for web

Compensation and schedule:

$17/hr at 20–24 hours per week (Monday, Thursday, Friday)

Reporter

Journalism position based in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge. Reporting experience a must! You will be a major contributor to the weekly newspaper including front page news. The news publication serves The Gorge area of Oregon and across the river in Washington. The Regional publication has offices in Hood River and The Dalles, Oregon and in White Salmon, Washington. The newspaper publishes once weekly and posts on-line web and social media content regularly. This is a great opportunity to expand your journalism experience. 

The position requires the ability to cover a variety of general news including government, state and city. The position will specialize on investigative news or hard news coverage for The Gorge area.  The fast-paced writing-reporting position requires relocating to live anywhere in the Columbia Gorge News area of coverage.  The reporter will be focused on a variety of beats throughout The Gorge communities and will require reliable transportation. The candidate will be self-motivated, but team oriented with the desire to learn and write about a variety of people and topics. The ability to be organized and meet deadlines is a must.  Graduates are encouraged to apply with journalism or related writing/reporting experience, including AP writing style.  Photography and technology skills a plus but not required. Wage based on experience. PTO/Sick/Flex time with remote and office work hours. Health insurance not currently available.
